Learning Challenge: Happiness Jar

Image
Picture of a corgi because corgis make me happy. Source: PxHere I tried this challenge in the second half of the semester and it made my life a lot more positive because I had the chance to think about one or more things that made me happy everyday of the week. I really enjoyed completing this challenge and wish to complete it it when the new year starts. I think I will keep a real happiness jar and write out whatever makes me happy. I really hope I can keep up with it throughout 2020.

Learning Challenge: Trying the Pomodoro Technique

Image
Pomodoro. Source: Flickr . Well, here we are again with the pomodoro technique. I honestly could not keep up with this technique because I like studying until I feel like I need a break. I don't like how its 25 minutes of studying then 5 minutes for break. I think the studying time is too short. I may try extending it to 50 minutes of studying then 10 minutes for break. Maybe that will be better for me in my opinion. But this is just a little update on where I went with this technique this school semester.

Learning Challenge: Reading Out Loud

Image
Growing up, I hated reading out loud in class. That was honestly my least favorite part about reading classes. Even to this day, I hated being called on to read things out loud. However, I noticed when I read the Jataka Tales out loud, I got through it a lot faster and I didn't skip over any words like when I am just reading it in my head. Personally, the advantages of reading out loud is I don't skip over words I usually do when I am doing silent reading. I also get a better understanding of the text as well. Not only that but I enjoy the reading a lot more and I don't get distracted as easily. As for disadvantages, I personally don't like reading out loud because I don't like hearing myself read. I might try reading some readings out loud later on, but there aren't that much time left in this semester so I am unsure. Books. Source: Flickr .

Learning Challenge: Time Challenge

Image
Honestly, in the beginning of the semester, it was hard for me to keep track of this class because I was so busy during the first half of the semester. I had so much going on in my sorority and in my life that I had troubles with keeping up with school. It has gotten a lot better now and I am glad I am able to finish the assignments assigned every week. I remember I used to get like maybe one or two done each week, but now, I do all of them and then extra credit on top to get to my goal for this class, which is to get an A! I learned how to manage my time better and use it efficiently because theres not a lot of time when you are in college. You just can't! Source: Flickr .

Learning Challenge: Happiness Jar

Image
This picture reminded me of my childhood. Source: pxhere . Last week, I had a reminder set up everyday towards the end of the day to remind me to write something that made me happy that day. I am glad I was able to do this experiment because looking back on it today, it made me really happy because this school semester has been really stressful for me. I think once the year 2020 hits, I am going to try to do this everyday and see what happens. I really hope I am able to keep up with it!

Corgi Puppies. Source: Pixabay . I started this challenge about 2-3 weeks ago and I forgot to keep up with it; therefore, I am going to restart this challenge this week and see where it takes me. My life has gotten less busy and my grades are slowly going up in all of my classes. I hope to continue that and hopefully, this challenge will help me gain happiness in all things.

Learning Challenge: The Happiness Jar

Me hoping to jump in the air like this picture after this semester. Source: Flickr . I have been stressed out with school, so I wanted to give this happiness challenge a shot and see what happens from here on out. I think this idea is great because it will give me an opportunity to take time out everyday to think about one thing that made me happy. I plan on writing at least one thing that made me happy everyday on a sticky note and sticking it somewhere in my room. I am going to try to be descriptive with it as well, so when I look back at the sticky note, I can remember what happened and hopefully, it will bring up my mood!

Learning Challenge: Pomodoro Technique Check-In #2

Image
Tomato Timer. Source: F lickr . I have not been using this technique this past week, but I would like to go back to using it because it kept me really focused. I have the tendency of studying for long periods of time and it is a habit I have had since middle school. I would like to change this habit, so I could retain more information I am studying. I am going to try to start using this technique more often and use blogger to keep track of how I am doing.

Learning Challenge: Pomodoro Technique Check-in #1

Image
Source: Flickr I have been trying the pomodoro technique to help me retain information better and keep me on track with school work. I really like this technique because it allows me to study for 25 minutes and then I get a short, five minute break before I go back to studying. So far, this technique has proven its worth to me and I will continue to use it because it is helping me maintain focus more. I would definitely recommend this technique to anyone who is struggling with studying!

Learning Challenge: Pomodoro Technique

Pomodoro Technique. Source:  Flickr . I have heard about this technique before and it has worked well for all of my friends. For me personally, I think it is an okay technique. Maybe I need to give it a try again this semester and keep up with how well it works in this class. I will try my best to do this extra credit assignment every week to see if I had made any progress with this technique.  When I study, I don't like to stay on one topic for that long; I like to switch subjects every now and then. Hopefully, this technique can help me stay on one subject especially if an exam is coming up. I also like to study in long periods before taking a break, which is bad since I'm not giving my brain a break. I am sure this technique could be helpful but we shall see at the end of this semester.
